I only tried a pptp vpn connection. The problem appears to be that the mppe module needed for pptp vpn encryption is not included, even though the pptp vpn setup has an option for encryption. So the only way I got it to work was to use a vpn server that has a "no encryption" option, and to configure the pptp vpn in the droid-x with the "Enable
